Located in the Darwin CBD, Croc Cove is a must-visit attraction that boasts some of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles in Australia. For teens who are 15 or older and feel like getting the adrenaline pumping, the notorious Cage of Death at Croc Cove is a must-do. Get plunged into a pool with a 5m saltwater crocodile - one of Australia's largest apex predators. If the Cage of Death doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, there’s still heaps to do at Croc Cove. Check out the other animals, watch the reptile show or go fishing for crocs.
Escape the heat and dive into the Darwin Waterfront, with heaps of fun activities for kids of all ages. The Wave Lagoon is a crowd favourite, giving kids the chance to catch a wave without stingers or crocs. Need to burn some more energy? Check out the Aqua Part for a fun obstacle challenge. Kids can slide, jump and bounce their way over this huge floating obstacle course in the middle of the Recreation Lagoon. Parents can chill out lagoon-side and order some takeaway food and drinks from one of the tasty vendors at the Darwin Waterfront.
Time for some much needed respite in the aircon?
Kingpin is the perfect retreat from the heat. Located just 10 minutes from the Darwin CBD, Kingpin is an entertainment haven for kids of all ages. There’s over 20 bowling lanes, laser tag, ping pong tables, games arcade and more. The older kids can also challenge themselves in the escape room if they’re feeling up to some cryptic puzzle solving.
Cruise around Darwin on a Neuron e-scooter or e-bike - a fun and easy way to get around. Neuron operates in the Darwin CBD, Waterfront and Cullen Bay, and all you need to do to get started is download the Neuron app on the
App Store or
Google Play. If you’ve got teens and they’re keen to do some exploring on their own, we recommend the path along the Darwin Esplanade.
Soak up the spectacular 360 degree views of Darwin on the
Skyline Ferris Wheel at Stokes Hill Wharf. The kids will love it, and you can grab some lunch or dinner at the wharf afterwards. Our favourite time to go on the ferris wheel is sunset when the sky transforms into a canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples. The Skyline Ferris Wheel is open for the dry season period.
Head down to Doctor’s Gully for one of Darwin’s iconic family friendly activities -
Aquascene. When the tide rises, the tropical waters at Doctor’s Gully become a haven for fish feeding. Feed the fish from the stairs of wade into the water to get up close and personal with these scaly friends.
Take a day trip from Darwin to the
Territory Wildlife Park, just 45 minutes south of the Darwin CBD. The park gives you an exciting insight into plant and animal life in the Top End - kids can expect to see wallabies, crocodiles, birds of prey, snakes and more. There's lot of interactive presentations and talks throughout the day too including the Flight Deck presentation and wallaby muster.
