Although most of the waterfalls are closed during the wet season due to crocodiles, there are still plenty of interesting things to do and see.

    • Flying over the waterfalls during the wet is spectacular due to the amount of water running.
    • The drive from Darwin to Kakadu during the wet presents a very different landscape to the dry. The vibrant green stands out, especially against the rolling monsoonal clouds.
    • The wet is the best time to discover animals. Dingoes, birds, and wallabies are more active during the rainy season.
  • What not to miss?

Keen to see some crocodiles? Visit Cahill's Crossing.

This flooded causeway is on the East Alligator River which divides Kakadu National Park from Arnhem Land and the Cobourg Peninsula. As the tide comes in you can watch crocodiles hunt for mullet. At the right time, you can see 30 or more crocs. Just make sure you don't try to dip your toes in!
