Alice Springs and the Red Centre. The town of Alice is surrounded by hills so at dusk you get the most spectacular light hitting the hills.
There is so much to do, from wildlife parks to art galleries, bike riding to hiking.
Check out the Araluen Art Galley - it has the most fabulous Indigenous art. Megafauna Central is also a must do, showcasing the unique megafauna that roamed Central Australia 8 million years ago. And it's free!

At least a week to give you enough time to explore the East and West MacDonnell Ranges as well as Alice Springs.
The Hilton or Lasseters are great for something flash in Alice Springs, but a hidden gem for a quieter stay is the Vatu Sanctuary. If you're heading out bush, a must is Hale River Homestead.
Make sure to do an astronomy tour at the Earth Sanctuary. The sky at night is a sight you'd never get to see in a city.
