Things to do in Darwin

Discover the local markets

One of the best things about Darwin is our markets, and they're a weekly ritual for many of us locals.

Take your visitor to your favourite markets and show them around.

Introduce them to Mary's Laksa at Parap Markets, or take them to Rapid Creek to explore the huge selection of fresh South East Asian produce.

If you're keen for a sunset view, head to Mindil Beach Sunset Markets and wander through the arts and craft stalls.

Tour the city on a Neuron before a swim at the Wavepool

Explore the city at your own pace on a Neuron scooter or bike. This is a great way to enjoy the dry season weather and discover Darwin at the same time.

We recommend starting at Mindil Beach before cruising up into Cullen Bay and then back towards the city along the Esplanade.

Finish your tour by cooling off with a swim and the Wavepool. Your visitors will love diving in at Darwin's most popular stinger and croc-free swimming spot!

The Wave Pool also offers shallow pools for toddlers, so it's suitable for the whole family.

Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise

A trip to Darwin isn't complete without getting up close and personal with a croc! Take a day trip out to the Jumping Crocodile Cruise in Adelaide River to see these powerful salties in their natural habitat.

Watch as the guides entice crocs out of the water in a feeding demonstration and learn about croc biology and behaviour.

This is also a great opportunity to see the floodplain ecosystem, so keep an eye out for other birds and wildlife too.
